Robin Hood is New York City’s largest poverty-fighting organization. For over thirty years, we’ve been finding, fueling, and creating the most impactful and scalable solutions to lift families out of poverty in New York City. We partner with over 300 nonprofits to support food, housing, education, legal services, workforce development, and more to New Yorkers living in poverty across all five boroughs. We support New Yorkers across the four key life stages. Learn more about our approach below:
💡Early Childhood
- Giving children the opportunity to realize their full potential begins before they are born. Our Early Childhood investments focus on children aged 0-5, their caregivers, and other important adults that contribute to their overall well-being. We are building data-driven solutions that optimize health and mental health outcomes in parents and children, foster optimal development of foundational language, literacy, numeracy and social-emotional skills, and promote responsive interactions between adults and children that promote core life skills that contribute to later academic success.
💡 School Aged Children
- High-quality education is essential to put students on a path to economic success. It ignites curiosity and helps students discover their passions and talents, while ensuring that they master the academic, social-emotional, and career-relevant knowledge and skills they need to be prepared for postsecondary success and a lifetime of learning. To substantially increase the percentage of low-income students who graduate from high school college-ready, we are focused on accelerating learning, supporting educators, redesigning schools, and building pathways for success.
💡Young Adults
- Our investments focus on helping the city’s low-income young adults ages 16 -28 to repair and advance their life trajectories through postsecondary educational attainment, training for career path jobs, and reduced involvement in the criminal justice system while also promoting education and employment outcomes.
💡Adults
- Too many working-age New Yorkers face economic shocks and significant barriers that trap them in a cycle of poverty. In response, the Adults and Household Supports team invests in best-in-class programs that offer the building blocks of stability and opportunity so our neighbors can permanently escape poverty. Such investments include skills training for placement in high-quality, in-demand jobs, and access to housing, food, healthcare, mental health, benefits, and legal services
